I am interested in communication. I enjoy being able to use words to express my thoughts, to focus attention on something that excites me, to debate an idea. Primarily a print journalist, I have also written scripts for comics, and for audio-visual communication.
As a journalist, I am in the most exciting profession in the world. I actually get paid for doing what I most enjoy, going out and meeting people of every description, attending events and thus getting an instant fix, on what's hot and what's not. Travel, food these are major passions at the moment, and I love being able to experience and write on both.
But I am also very involved with the sociological developments that touch our lives in such a major way, the changes in the family and in the workplace and the attendant opportunities and problems. I've studied these as a press Fellow at Wolfson College, Cambridge, and have continued to work on these areas since.
The media is perhaps more powerful today than it has ever been. This is a sobering and a humbling thought. I've tried to use the media to focus attention not just on "the beautiful people", and the rich and the powerful, but also on organisations and individuals who are working for the community.
In the future, I see myself turning to creative writing. I have written children's books and fiction for adults mostly with a humorous touch, and these have received very good feedback, the children's stories were translated into Hindi and regional languages by Children's Book Trust.
